Godard Season At BFI
Anna Karina, Bardot and Godard's seminal film Le Mépris
"I was in many of Jean-Luc's movies, but I wasn't in Le Mépris. I think that he really wanted to do a film with Brigitte Bardot, and, of course, I can understand that!” said the longtime muse and former lover of Jean-Luc Godard, Anna Karina on the movie. An adaption of Alberto Moravia's novel, A Ghost at Noon, Le Mépris starring Brigitte Bardot and Michel Picolli was one of the most experimental beacon films of French New Wave cinema. The movie had parallels to Godard’s relationship with his lover Anna Karina as well. Now, the movie plays at the BFI, London as part of its Godard season that will run until March 14.
